Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

For the first 35 years of my life, I was on one personal and career path - to be a pastor. When I came out just before my 36th birthday, everything in my life changed. Not just my job, but the career path I’d been on since I was 17, which was not just a job - it was a calling. My personal life changed dramatically including four housing moves in the course of 18 months and the loss of several significant long-term relationships. I went through multiple job changes and significant financial insecurity, including an eight month period without a full-time job.

My work with clients going through personal and professional transitions is rooted in a deep understanding of how it feels to experience massive life changes. When the major structures of our lives (career, personal relationships, health, etc.) are no longer stable or no longer present, it can be disorienting, exhausting, demoralizing, terrifying, and incredibly isolating. We can easily forget the power that we have to make choices that will positively impact our lives.

When we are in the midst of major life upheavals, whether voluntary or involuntary, we need space to process and to chart our course toward a fulfilling, thriving life.

My calling as a coach is to care for you as my client and to help you grow. Together, we can help you find your footing so that you can dream of and plan for a brighter future.

The paradox of major life upheaval is that those moments are FULL of possibility. When we can hold tight to our sense of agency and our power to shape our lives, times of transition can become seasons of significant growth. We are willing to try things that we might have passed over if we were in a more comfortable, settled season.

Comfort is wonderful, but it is not where we grow.

Growth IS change. Change is uncomfortable and unsettling. So when we are in a season where we are uncomfortable and unsettled, we are in a season that is primed for growth. I wish that growth and significant learning happened primarily in times of ease, but that has not been my experience or the experience of most of my clients. In order to grow crops, the ground has to be turned over, tilled, ripped up. That’s when the seeds of something new can take root and yield something valuable and beautiful.

If you’re in a season of change and feel turned over, tilled, ripped up, now may be the perfect time to meet to schedule a call with me. I would love to be your coach to make sure that this season is full of growth.
